In 1393, when parson John II was the abbot of the Augustinian Monastery 3 roku  the building of this well commenced. Legend has it that the Kłodzko shoe-maker, Czesław, built the well. It is astonishing that according to the legend, this shoemaker “managed to mine as many rocks from the ground as he could accommodate and carry out in his leather, shoemaker apron when he finished work”. The well construction lasted 9 years and it is 30 meters deep and 2 meters wide. Another interesting fact is that water was abstracted from this well by means of the “Pater Noster” device; getting water from the water surface to the edge of the well lasted as long as completing “Our Lord’s Prayer”.
